Justin Nixon is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP) with 16 years of clinical experience serving clients in Brentwood, Nashville, Franklin, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area. He holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Argosy University and completed his clinical practicum at the Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center. Justin works with adolescents and adults ages 16 and up on depression, anxiety, substance use and addiction, personality disorders, anger management, and existential or spiritual crises. He brings both the clinical training and the personal presence to make therapy a space where real work can happen.
Justin's approach is integrative. He draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), person-centered therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and incorporates mindfulness and transpersonal interventions when they serve the client. Therapy works best when the client and therapist form an authentic connection. Justin's aim is to be someone clients feel fully comfortable with, and who offers insights that are otherwise unreachable on one's own. His focus is on understanding the pain with the goal of decreasing distress — making therapy a place to explore feelings in an unbiased, non-judgmental environment.
Sessions are 50 minutes and held in person at the Brentwood office on Old Hickory Boulevard. The current rate is $150 per session, and many insurance plans are accepted, feel free to ask whether Justin is in-network for your coverage. Some clients prefer to pay privately to avoid the diagnosis requirement that most insurance plans impose, and Justin is happy to discuss what makes sense for you. New clients are offered a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation to determine whether the fit feels right before scheduling a first appointment.
